PRESS STATEMENT
25th September,2025 -Zambia’s Ambassador to Sweden, H.E. Mrs. Gladys Neven Lundwe, held follow-up discussions with officials from the ELEKTA Foundation, Ms. Cornilla von Plomgren, Director of External Relations and Partnerships, and Ms. Viveca Gasslander, Executive Assistant.
The talks centered on the proposed partnership with Zambia’s Ministry of Health aimed at strengthening efforts in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cervical and breast cancer. The ELEKTA Foundation officials outlined areas of possible collaboration, including technical support, capacity building, and resource mobilization to enhance the Ministry’s existing programs in women’s health.
Ambassador Lundwe welcomed the initiative, noting that the partnership has the potential to contribute meaningfully to Zambia’s national health priorities, particularly in reducing the burden of cancer among women. She further underscored the Mission’s commitment to facilitating engagement between the Foundation and relevant Zambian authorities to ensure that the proposed project is aligned with government policy.
Both parties agreed to continue technical consultations and to work towards a draft framework of cooperation that will define the scope of collaboration and guide the next stages of implementation.
