PRESS STATEMENT

21st September, 2025 – Zambia’s Ambassador to Sweden, Her Excellency Mrs. Gladys Neven Lundwe, says education remains one of the most powerful tools for transformation and has urged Zambian students studying in Sweden to embrace their academic journey with responsibility, discipline, and commitment to excellence.

Speaking when she hosted twelve (12) outstanding Zambian students awarded the prestigious Swedish Institute Scholarship Programme, Ambassador Lundwe described their selection as a testament to their academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to contributing meaningfully to society.

“As you begin your studies in Sweden, you are entering a world of critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. This milestone must inspire you not only to excel academically but also to embody discipline, integrity, and respect,” Ambassador Lundwe said.

She reminded the students that their conduct abroad reflects not only on themselves but also on Zambia, noting that opportunities such as the Swedish Institute Scholarship demand the highest standards of responsibility and character.

Ambassador Lundwe further encouraged the scholars to maintain strong connections with their Zambian identity and culture, while also embracing the diversity and learning that Sweden offers.

She called on them to position themselves as global citizens who, upon completion of their studies, will contribute towards Zambia’s national development.

The Ambassador also commended Zambian alumni of the Swedish Institute Scholarship Programme, some of whom are now settled in Sweden, as well as the Kwacha Nordic Association, for their continued commitment to supporting new students and strengthening bonds within the Zambian diaspora community.

She encouraged the students to remain in close touch with the Zambian Embassy, assuring them of the mission’s support throughout their academic journey.
