Her Excellency Ms. Gladys Neven Lundwe, Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia, formally presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Lithuania on a non-residential basis.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Lundwe conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, to his counterpart, President of the Republic of Lithuania. The ceremony was conducted at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania on 8th October 2024.


After the ceremony, President Nausėda invited Ambassador Lundwe to an audience during which Ambassador Lundwe reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to strengthen its bilateral relations with Lithuania. The Ambassador said that Zambia was looking forward to enhancing economic and political cooperation and partnership between the two countries through the holding of regular bilateral consultations to review all aspects of mutual interest and benefit. She further called for education and cultural exchange programs between the two countries as a platform to promote technology and skills knowledge transfer.
Ambassador Lundwe added that Zambia had become one of the best economic destinations in Africa for investment opportunities due to Government’s commitment to promoting peace and stability thereby providing a conducive investment atmosphere.
In response, President Nausėda said that there was great potential to improve the bilateral relations between Lithuania and Zambia. He said that Lithuania was seeking to enhance its relations with like-minded democratic countries that were supporters of global peace.
The President added that Lithuania was open to economic cooperation in various sectors such as agriculture, food industry, information and communication technology as well as life sciences.
President Nausėda noted that Lithuania had good universities in the fields of medicine and technology at which Zambian scholars could consider enrolling, considering that the training programs were offered in English.

Prior to the Accreditation Ceremony, H.E. Gladys Neven Lundwe held a meeting with Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. Her Excellency also held separate meetings with Mr. Vytautas Pinkus, Director of Directorate of Global Affairs and Mr. Petras Zapolskas, Director of State and Diplomatic Protocol.
